I purchased a bag of this grain and then did not know what to do with it. I gained enough information that I will be able to create my own recipes. I found very few in the book that would appeal to my family. Worth your time.
Imagine a super food that not only tastes great, but is great for you. Here's the thing I just discovered Quinoa and was looking for a book of recipes when Vesela Tabakova's book came into my life. Imagine that. Now imagine a tiny seed that cooks up like rice and has a mild nutty flavor and a light fluffy texture similar to couscous. The Incas considered quinoa sacred and called it "The Mother Of All Grains." You'll call it a gift from mother nature when you realize it has been identified as one of the most nutritious foods on the planet; that is gluten free, has a high protein content, and contains all nine essential amino acids.This is not brain surgery, but it is good for the brain and has many other nutritional benefits that you'll discover. For me I'll pour a cup of quinoa into 2 cups of water, then boil it for 15 minutes, then walla I'm rock-en-rolling ready to begin. Breakfast,lunch dinner, it's all here with mouth-watering recipes that will tickle your taste buds and fire up your health. For breakfast I'm having the Berry Quinoa - For Lunch I'm gonna try the Quinoa Chicken Salad and for dinner the Quinoa Stuffed Bell Peppers. Oh and for dessert I'm having Quinoa Banana Pudding... Yum! What's on your menu? If you have not all ready picked up Amazing Quinoa then do so now,for it is not only an investment in your health, but a culinary delight for the taste buds that you and your family will treasure as a super food that tastes great!
There are three things to love here:1. Its all dead-easy.2. The recipes serve family sized meals3. With almost no effort, they can all be made vegetarian or even vegan.Bottom line, its a must-have.
This is a good little starter cookbook if you are just beginning to use quinoa. Some good basic information about the grain, and a number of good, simple recipes. Lots of salads, some soups, a number of breakfast dishes. No pictures, but all in all a good little basic book.
While this book is a good starter book on Quinoa, I was left wanting more. The book starts out giving information about quinoa, and then gets into the recipes. While the recipes here are good, most of them are for salads, I was left wanting a few more entrees. There are no photos for those that like that. Serving counts are given, but there are no prep times, and no nutritional info for each recipe. The formatting is good, with a table of contents with links to each recipe for easy navigation, and there is a page break after each recipe so that they don't run together.
I loved the inspiration and the work the author has put into developing her recipes. So glad they don’t all contain bananas since I have an allergy to them. Most smoothies have frozen bananas which give smoothies a great texture that is hard, if not impossible to duplicate. Thanks for writing this book!
I was having a hard time getting used to Quinoa until until I found this cookbook. Quinoa is used in so many different ways that it's easy to find several different ways to prepare it to your liking. I'm an avid cook, and also making some healthier changes in my life, so this cookbook helped me cross the bridge between no way and finally liking the taste, texture and lifestyle benefits with Quinoa. I'm sure even the most picky eater could find several recipes they liked with this book as a guideline.
If you are already a Quinoa eater or, if you are just getting interested in giving it a try, this is a good book to start with. It has a variety of interesting recipes and is well-written. I've tried a couple of them and they were very good.
I bought this book because I couldn't help myself at Costco and bought a large bag of quinoa after hearing from friends what a great grain this is. This book seemed like a good starter. The book is a collection of recipes that are quinoa-centric but I didn't find too many of them exciting. It does help you understand about quinoa and how to prepare it. It is strictly vegetarian but I have found quinoa to be very versatile when paired with vegetables or meat. If you want to know a lot about quinoa before you start using it, this is a good primer.
