I needed this book for a history of ancient and medieval philosophy college course. It's a great book that is laid out in a very clear and concise fashion that allows the reader to easily comprehend the material. Quick delivery, too.

This enormous volume covers nine-hundred years of intellectual history [beginning with St. Augustine in the 5th century and ending with John Buridan 14th century AD], making this the finest single-volume anthology concerning Middle Age philosophy available. Preceding the writings of each author are informative biographical sketches and introductory material that will be of great assistance to the reader while tackling these texts. The only drawback to this volume is the fact that there are very few annotations; but this slight discrepancy cannot negate from the general value of this book. A major positive to the Third Edition is the inclusion of many works, for example, 'On the Existence of an Infinite Being,' from Duns Scotus which are only found here in English, translated from the Vatican 'Ordinatio' edition for the first time; and also the newly formatted text is much more easy to read from its early couterpart.

This book was purchased for our granddaughter who is at college. The book was exactly what she required for this upcoming school year. The price was great and the product was shipped quickly and came on time.

My son needed this for college, so we got him a new one and he likes it.

Unfortunately, this book was returned because the student for whom I purchased it has left seminary formation. Since he was attending an excellent school for his philosophical training and his professor is a very good teacher, I'm sure it's an excellent source.

Very interesting book. It definitely helped me have a better understanding of religion and the philosophers.
